Closed system Volcano

Stage 1 – Low activity

Stage 2 – Increased unrest activity

Stage 3 – Intensified unrest activity

The volcanic alert stage systems may only be applicable to closed and open system volcanoes respectively. Refer to above tables for more information.

It is theoretically based on recent and historical data hence;

  1. The progress of volcanic activity from stage 1 to 4 may not be chronological as described but skip stage(s)
  2. May change stage abruptly
  3. Details of events under each stage may not completely appear as described but may seem overlapping or sometimes inconsistent.
